wrath, revival, or indifference?

As I see it, there are only three possibilities, namely: 1) God is about to destroy the world in His wrath; or, 2) God is about to send worldwide Revival; or, 3) God doesn't care what happens one way or the other, and the world will keep on going as it is.

I have often complained that I have never witnessed genuine Revival in my lifetime ~ notwithstanding I was raised and spent almost my entire lifetime amongst supposedly Revival-loving churches (Pentecostal).  Not only have I never personally witnessed Revival during my long lifetime, but in my now decade-long study of Revival, I am unaware of any substantial Revival that has occurred (in the U.S.A.) since about 1950.  A quick Internet search related to "Revivals in America since 1950," returns a host of articles that include such stupid information as the following:
"In 1976 America elected a born-again president, and evangelicalism has continued to prosper from then to now."
No wonder America has not seen Revival; most professing Christians don't even know what real Christianity is ~ and what it is not.

Why is it that throughout the past 70 years or so, there has been no nation-shaking Revival in America?!  Is God indifferent ~ at least, to the condition of this nation?  Of course, the idea, that God is indifferent to the world, is the most readily debunked among the three possibilities above mentioned.  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son...", puts the notion of an indifferent Creator completely out of mind.

But if God is not indifferent, we necessarily must then consider why it is that, for at least two generations or more, America has seemingly continued in a state of limbo, as it were, wherein neither the wrath of God has been poured out upon this nation, nor yet has Revival occurred.  Of course, the obvious answer is that neither of those two outcomes has occurred because GOD IS STILL WAITING.  As a matter of fact, that is exactly the answer one may learn from studying the Bible.

So, it cannot be that God is indifferent; moreover, it must be the case that God is waiting.  In the introductory paragraph, above, I suggested there are only three possibilities ~ the first two of which I will reiterate: 1) God's is about to destroy the world in His wrath; or, 2) God is about to send worldwide Revival.  Thus, I stand by the logical certainty of my initial proposition; there is no other logical way to construe the situation I have been discussing.

God is about to....   Though He is yet waiting.

Why is God "waiting"?  And what is He waiting for?  Bible students ought to know the answer to those important questions:
The people of the land have used oppression, and exercised robbery, and have vexed the poor and needy: yea, they have oppressed the stranger wrongfully.  And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found noneTherefore have I poured out mine indignation upon them; I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads, saith the Lord GOD.  (Ezekiel 22:30-31)
There it is!  THAT's what God is waiting for: He's waiting for "a man", that is to say, someone to "make up the hedge, and stand in the gap".  To be sure, Jesus is that man who did, and who does still yet, stand in the gap.  But God is not, today, waiting for Jesus to come and offer himself at Calvary.  No.  Nevertheless, God does wait and look for AT LEAST ONE INDIVIDUAL, in every generation and in every place on earth, who will stand before God to AVAIL himself or herself, as the case may be, of the blessings and privileges offered and made possible through God's gift of Christ; of which blessings and privileges, there is none greater than to ask God Himself to "rend the heavens and come down".

In light of those facts, we should now ask the question: Is there then no one "standing in the gap", seeking God for Revival in America?  I know the answer to that question....  More important, God knows.  Perfectly.

Above (in the quote from Ezekiel), God said: "I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath: their own way have I recompensed upon their heads...."  God's wrath, in other words, entails God's allowing the unbelieving and rebellious to reap the consequences of their own thoughts and actions.  That principle is eminently important to understand.  I always taught my own children, that the worst thing God can do to anyone, is, to turn rebellious individuals over to their own ways.  Now, that being the case, it stands to reason that God's mercy has to do with God's desire and His seeking to direct every one of us AWAY from "our own ways"; and, to turn our hearts and minds, instead, toward God and His ways.

And that, my friend, is what Revival is ALL ABOUT.  Revival is: God condescending to make His Presence and power tangibly felt BY ALL!  THUS, to humble ALL before Him; and, THUS, to give tangible evidence to ALL, of the reality of the living, Resurrected Christ ~ who sits in Judgment; and, THUS, through the ministry of the Holy Ghost, to AWAKEN men's conscience and, so, "convince the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment".  As I have elsewhere written: God has NO OTHER MEANS whereby He has ordained to save men's souls and to build the Kingdom of God, than by and through the ministry of the Holy Ghost (who is Christ's true and only Regent on earth).

We may then with all confidence state that:
God is not willing for unholy persons (notice, I did not say "unsaved" ~ for, unhappily, too many supposedly "saved" persons are in fact "unholy"), God is not willing for unholy persons, I say, to continue is unbelief and disobedience to the will of God!
God does greatly desire to save and to bless men, by turning them away from their own ways, and to enable them to submit themselves unto God to love and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.
God has no other means whereby He has chosen to accomplish the above, than by and through the ministry of the Holy Ghost, Who is Christ's regent on earth.
God is not indifferent, but He is waiting ~ waiting for someone to stand before the throne of God, in unwavering faith for Revival.  Jesus Christ desires to send the Holy Ghost in divine soul-saving power [not as though the Holy Ghost has been withdrawn from His earthly ministry; but, the Holy Ghost is given to "them that obey him" (see, Acts 5:32; Hebrews 5:9)].
America will pine away in sin and sorrow until at last ALL AMERICA WILL BE TURNED OVER TO REPROBATION AND UTTER DESTRUCTION; for, the longsuffering of God will not wait for ever.

America's ONLY HOPE is that God will ~ in keeping with His own will and Covenant ~ send Revival.  But that unspeakably gracious condescension of God WILL NOT OCCUR APART from earnest intercession on the part of FAITHFUL and BELIEVING Christians who have SET THEIR FACE to obtain the promised blessing from the Lord.

I, for one, am unmovably determined to receive it.  God has heard my cry (and not mine only).  He is coming in unfathomable power.  He's coming to save and to deliver ~ and to judge.

Do not doubt it: the Holy Ghost is coming in the power of God Almighty.  But where will he find you?  Will He find you "standing in the gap" for Revival?  If you are one who for years has professed to be a Christian, but you are not with all your heart seeking God for Revival, then I greatly fear for you.  God has been calling you, teaching you, challenging you, urging you, even pleading with you; of that I am absolutely certain.  I reckon God may not then ~ when the Holy Ghost comes in answer to the pleadings of faithful intercessors, God may not then, I say, be very willing to confer the same blessing upon your head that will be given as the reward to those who have long borne the burden of interceding for Revival.

You'd better think very seriously about that.  The parable of the "ten virgins" is directed to professing Christians ~ not all of whom are going to be granted entrance into the Kingdom of God.
