When is Christ returning?

The question, WHEN is Christ returning, has mostly to do with the answer to another question, namely, WHY is Christ returning?  As the above image suggests, Christ is returning to earth largely for the purpose to judge and to punish the world.  Bible prophecy has more to say about the soon-coming judgment of the world than about any other subject.  That great wealth of prophetic knowledge is sufficient, for truly interested students of Scripture, in order for them to know very precisely the time of Christ's return.  Those who deny the truth of that statement betray their own lack of understanding the Biblical revelation.

The fact that Christ's return will entail the judgment of this present world helps to explain certain otherwise inexplicable phenomena that have lately occurred.  Which in turn helps us in some measure to discern the time of Christ's coming.  For example, by what exercise of reason alone could one make any sense of the phenomenon related to transsexualism?  Doubtless throughout history there have been individuals who secretly desired that their sexual identity was opposite to the reality of their being.  But never in history has there appeared anything like the recent phenomenon involving transsexualism.  The appearance of which phenomenon reveals that God's judgment is already taking hold of the world in preparation for the outpouring of God's wrath that is soon coming.  So, the appearance of that phenomenon also reveals that Christ's return is very near at hand.

Other, if perhaps less obvious, examples can be given.  The recent emergence and rapid rise to predominance in the world, of certain theories related to Postmodernism so-called, are characteristic of a phenomenon previously unknown in the world - one which blatantly denies not merely the existence of an omnipotent Creator and God but furthermore denies the notion of 'objective truth'.  When, until now, has mankind ever collectively embraced the idea that there is no such thing as objective truth?  The very suggestion is completely irrational.  It is impossible even to assert an objection against the existence of truth, without contradicting the (il)logic of such objection.  The statement, "There is no such thing as truth", could not, in that case, then be true.

Such a world as we now live in cannot possibly be expected to escape God's judgment.  Such a world, moreover, cannot any longer serve as an habitation fit for human life.

I like to use a basket of apples as a metaphor to explain how it happens that God's attitude toward the world can (and will) change somewhat suddenly and dramatically.  Imagine, if you will, a basket of freshly picked apples.  With the passing of time, more and more of those apples would eventually become unfit to eat.  The prudent thing to do, of course, were to remove the rotten apples from the basket, as they appeared, in order to preserve the whole against corruption.  But if the rotten apples be not removed in a timely manner, it would soon be the case that instead of removing the bad apples from amongst the good, a wiser approach would be to remove the remaining (few) good apples from amongst the basket of now mostly rotten apples.

It seems to me that the world is in such a condition that God must soon remove the good from amongst the bad.  In that context, the Rapture makes a lot of sense.

Who is not aware that a precipitous downward trend is occurring in the world?  And not just with respect to moral judgment.  But it is widely apparent that even persons' basic ability to think rationally seems to be increasingly impaired.  I have long attributed such decline (both moral and intellectual) to the damnable effects of worldly institutions of 'education'.  Though I do consider whether multitudes of unbelievers, having rejected God's salvation and frustrated his grace, are now being given over to reprobation.

There must be a cutting-off point, when that God will judge the world.  In view of which there must then be some period of time leading up to that point, during which time God will work to separate the wheat from the chaff, as it were, in preparation for his removing the Church from amongst the world, prior to the Judgment.  What an unspeakably serious reality that is!

Are we not now in the throes of that threshing-time?  The process of separating wheat from chaff is very instructive, prophetically.  In order to separate the edible kernel from the non-edible parts (chaff) of the plant, wheat stalks are first beaten and then shovelfuls are cast into the air to allow the wind to blow away the chaff from the heavier kernels of wheat which fall back to the ground.  The present state of the world suggests that harvest time is already underway.  Very soon the wheat God will gather into his barns; after which great heaps of chaff and tares will be destroyed.

  1. My Dear friend,
I have heard so many talk of such times that are near and soon to appear, but I have never read such a concise and well read, understanding and description of the 'times and the seasons' God's people are to already know. I agree there must be a 'cutting off point' for His Judgement. I also acknowledge your reasoning and again, your understanding of scripture. I think every single pastor in the world which we now exist needs to hear this message and reflect on what you've plainly and eloquently stated. Thank you for sharing!
