Christ -- in you

It's burning deeper and deeper into my mind: "Christ in you...", "Christ in you...", "Christ in you..."

what is truth?

Years ago I wondered whether it were possible to formulate a meaningful definition of the word "truth" -- apart from any reference to God.  I found that to be a far more difficult task than I could have imagined.  After three days of thinking about nothing else but to resolve that difficult question, I arrived in my mind at a definition of truth, which definition I still believe it to be valid and therefore useful.  Here, then, is my "secular" definition of truth:

ignorance

The above image conveys three exceedingly important ideas, namely:

  1. IGNORANCE -- is a fact of life.  What does God have to say about that?
  2. Do we have a "right" to remain ignorant?
  3. Ignorance is not always due to lack of opportunity to learn but, oftentimes, it is the result of willful choice.

transformation

There are many different kinds of caterpillars, but they all (?) have certain things in common, namely: they are not beautiful to look at; they crawl everywhere they go; and, inevitably, they get themselves all tangled up, as shown in the above photo.

Oh, and one more thing: they have the potential to experience something extraordinary....

two paths

In reality there are only two paths between which to choose.  And choose we must.  Neither the choice nor the consequences of our choice can by any means be avoided.  Either we believe that the Bible is true--and that the God of the Bible is who he says he is; or, else, we believe the Bible is false: in which case we cannot know anything with certainty about God.  There is only light or darkness; heaven or hell; life or death; peace or torment: there is no middle ground.

change is coming

The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?   (Jeremiah 5:31)

Those, who foresaw the judgment of God coming afar off, warned as many as would listen.  Tragically, not many cared to listen.  Now, a sense of alarm and dread seems to grip the mind of everyone in this nation (America).  Still, there appear to be few who understand that the real cause of judgment against this nation has little to do with what goes on in Washington, D.C..

greater fear is coming

Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.  Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man’s heart shall melt: and they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. (Isaiah 13:6-8)

Who has ever seen or heard of such a thing as above described?  "Howl" is not a sound made by humans--except, when they are confronted with something beyond the mind's ability to cope with.  The feeling of terror, referred to in the above quoted passage of Scripture, is not a description of the environment of Hell.  But those verses of Scripture indicate what shall be the reaction of every living person on the earth, to events which shall occur on earth at the time of the opening of the sixth seal.  Moreover, we are certain, based upon the revelation of Scripture, that the time at which those events shall occur is now very near to come.  We furthermore know, by revelation of the Holy Ghost, a great deal about just what those events shall entail: indescribable horror and fear....

against the wind

In her powerful painting, above, titled, "Against the Wind," Liz Lemon Swindle wonderfully portrayed that moment when Peter--who himself had just walked out to Jesus on the water!--began to sink beneath the deep, dark waves.  Perhaps for the sake of clarity of the images of Jesus and Peter, Liz's painting minimizes what actually was that night, according to Scripture, a life-threatening storm on the Sea of Galilee; a storm so fierce that Peter--a professional fisherman by trade, evidently could not resist looking in amazement at what was going on around him.

Besides the fact that both Jesus and Peter physically walked on top of the sea's wild waves, something no less remarkable--and instructive--is to be found in that true story....

being an overcomer

Who hasn't confronted obstacles in life, such that the temptation just to give up seems to be the only option?  Who hasn't surrendered, at some point in his or her life, a project, a hope, a dream--because the obstacles to success appeared to be too great to be worth the effort?  Such experiences and feelings are common to all.  What is not common, however, are real-life examples of some who, against all odds, overcame, in their private battles.  In the short video, below, is a beautiful example of one such person....
